The End Is Here

The heat is not over, but summer vacation is. School (work for me,) starts tomorrow. Gone are the days of sleeping in until 8:30 am. Gone are the days of spending all day running errands and cleaning house. (So much for the lazy days of summer.) Tomorrow I trade my teenagers for a school full of someone else's teenagers.

This time of year always reminds me of when I was in school and the excitement of the first day of school. In the grade school years the teachers always asked us to write what we did over the summer. I had a large family, and my dad worked long hours in the summer as a log truck driver, so I rarely had anything to write about. I wonder what I would write about this summer...

This summer I was in a small car accident. At first I didn't think I was hurt, but the next day I had headaches and neck pain. I was told low impact accidents were notorious for whip lash. I spent all summer in Physical Therapy, three times a week for about 2 hours each appointment. I got my car repaired. It only took a month to repair. My neck is still a little sore after 3 months.

I got to go to Michigan. It was beautiful there. I grew up in Oregon and miss the trees since coming to Utah. Michigan has lots of trees. The weather was also cool while we were there. It has been a record breaking summer for all of the heat we have had in Utah this year.

The rest of my summer was spent working on, or watching my husband work on the remodel project we started on our home and our yard last winter.

That is how I spent my summer.

I am looking forward to my favorite time of year...fall. I love the cooler weather and the changing colors of the leaves in the mountains. Utah may not have as many trees as Oregon, but there are still enough trees in the mountains to make for a beautiful fall.

How did you spend your summer?

How did I spend my summer?

I work through the summer and though I took a week off to go to Cornwall, in early August, most of my time has been spent in London.

I hope you have a pleasant return to school and that the kids behave themselves for you.

Thanks hm,
I wish I could spend some time in London! I have always wanted to visit. Maybe I will when the kids all leave home...Just 7 more years. (I am not counting!) :-)

We took the kids all to France and Spain last year, but it was kind of a once in a life deal, flights are so expensive!

You know how I spent my summer...

I'm wondering how work is going? Did you reach your balance yet from summer to school?

Well Julie, I spent my summer working (part-time only). We did take a great vacation up the coast. The hardest part of my summer was leaving the kids at home while I went to work. I did leave a chore list for the kids to do while I was at work, which kept them occupied, but I missed being with them. Now that school has started for us, we can hopefully get into a routine. (easier said than done though, right?)

SML,
I obviously have not adjusted yet. LOL I don't have any time. I think it is getting better. It takes time to get organized at the beginning of the year. I have a lot of seating charts that have to be made, and many other class groupings on the computer.

I work with 6 teacher regularly. They each have 4 classes of between 30 and 40 students. In addition to that, there are other teachers I work with occasionaly. Needless to say, it has taken me a while to get things under control. I think I am almost there though.

I have adjusted back to getting up at 5:30 every morning, and have mostly got my 14 year old to be ready to leave so we are not late. I guess I can't ask for more than that.

Jazzy,
I am jealous! I really miss the coast. I wish we were closer. When we lived in Portland it was so easy to go. Now it is 14 hours away. Maybe next summer!
Have you been able to get into a routine yet? I can't believe it is already October! It seems school just started and it is already mid-term!
Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I have been too busy with work to look at my blog, let alone post on it.
I am going to try and be more diligent on looking at, and posting to my blog now that things are almost under control at school.
